Campaign Story
Hello, my name is Andrea, and I am trying to raise this money with the dream of becoming a mother. Although I do not have a romantic partner, I am not alone on this journey. My mother, Alexandra, lives with me and will be my co-parent and biggest support system in raising this child. We are a team—a small but strong family unit.
Alexandra and I have grown even closer since my father passed away three years ago, and since war broke out near the border of our home country. We were both born and raised in Moldova, a small country in Eastern Europe that borders Ukraine. With the war commencing in 2022, we made the difficult decision to move permanently to the United States, seeking peace, safety, and opportunity.
Since moving, we’ve worked hard to build a new life. We carry with us our culture, language, and traditions. Between us, we speak Romanian, Russian, and I also speak Spanish fluently. I dream of raising a multilingual child, giving them the gift of communication across cultures and the tools to understand and appreciate diversity.
Currently, I work as a caregiver for the elderly, a role that brings me deep personal fulfillment. Caring for others has always been in my nature. Before this, I worked for the Department of Defense in national security. Although it was a prestigious and important job, it was also high-pressure and emotionally draining. A few years ago, I decided to change paths and pursue work that aligns more closely with my heart and values. Now, every day I have the privilege of helping others live with dignity and comfort.
My mother, Alexandra, is retired. She spends her days keeping our home warm and welcoming. She cooks the healthy meals I grew up on—traditional Moldovan dishes made with love—and she keeps in touch with our extended family overseas. She is the anchor of our home, and she brings peace and stability to our daily lives. On most days, we take walks together, often rain or shine. Sometimes I go for a short run while she strolls, and it has become our way to stay grounded, connected, and healthy.
In our free time, we enjoy simple pleasures. We often gather with friends to share meals, laughter, and stories. We cook traditional favorites like crepes, borsch, and olivie salad. Occasionally, we go to comedy shows—we both believe laughter is the best medicine, and I love seeing others smile. Whether it’s cooking, laughing, or volunteering at our church (where I help sell books and my mother tends the garden), we live a life rooted in connection, community, and love.
I have always wanted to be a mother. I believe it is one of the greatest honors in life—to raise a child, to guide them, and to witness their growth. However, due to my low AMH levels and diminished ovarian reserve (about five follicles), conceiving naturally is not possible for me. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is my only viable path to motherhood. While the emotional and physical demands of IVF are significant, I am prepared for the journey. What stands in the way now is primarily financial.
My chosen sperm donor is my ex-husband, Jack. We were once married and still share a deep friendship and mutual respect. Our relationship has evolved, but the bond remains strong. Jack is kind, intelligent, and supportive. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and is excited about the opportunity to help me create a life. This child would be conceived from a place of love, or at the very least, a foundation of deep care, trust, and friendship.
Raising a child has always felt like my life’s calling. I want to pour my heart, my knowledge, and my heritage into this child. I want to raise a kind, compassionate, multilingual individual who gives back to the world. With the languages we speak and the cultures we come from, we would offer this baby a uniquely rich upbringing. I already have resources lined up through the Libby app to help teach Romanian, Russian, and Spanish from an early age. My hope is that our child might one day become a translator, diplomat, or global citizen—someone who bridges gaps between people.
Education and character are incredibly important to us. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my mother has an Associate’s degree in Economics. We value education not just for academic success, but for the way it shapes a person’s sense of self and responsibility to the world. We would teach our child the importance of integrity—doing the right thing even when no one is watching—as well as resilience, kindness, and hard work.
I know parenting requires immense energy, time, and patience. It is not something I take lightly. But I also know that my mother and I are ready. We’ve been through hardship—grief, war, displacement—and come through stronger. We are ready to give this child a home full of nurturing support, structure, and unconditional love.
Our parenting style would be authoritative—balancing warmth with clear expectations. We would foster open communication, emotional support, and independence. The baby would grow up surrounded by not only two dedicated women but also a community of friends, extended family, and a kind and generous biological father who would remain involved in whatever way the child needs.
This baby would have a family grounded in strong values, filled with home-cooked meals, bedtime stories in multiple languages, daily walks in nature, laughter, and a village of people who care deeply. I believe every child deserves to be wanted and cherished, and this baby will be both.
It is our dream to leave a legacy—not only of blood but of kindness, generosity, and love. We want to raise a child who is empathetic, who stands up for others, and who brings light into every room they enter. We want to raise a future leader, healer, or artist—someone who makes the world better, in whatever way they choose.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us. This grant would not only give us a chance to grow our family, but it would also give one very loved baby a chance to come into this world surrounded by hope, heritage, and love.
With gratitude,
Andrea & Alexandra
